I finally got the copy of "The Resourceful Woodworker", 1996 edition, by Robert Wearing, which I ordered 2nd hand through e-bay (thanks AndyT for directing me to it).
Full of good, sound, simple and practical ideas to work upon.
So much so that, having received it just before lunch, I ate my lunch cold - forgot to eat it while I was perusing the book...
For my specific needs, I find it more useful than The Essential Woodworker. But I think they make a good set.
