I have watched a few of their series,- not avidly- but last night I saw them in Norway.

What a beautiful country that is! The scenery made me want to go there for our 50th in August!
I also applaud their policy on Toll Roads. Tolls are paid on new motorways, until the cost has been recouped. Thereafter it is free to travel on them. (presumably they have some kind of other road fund scheme.) I thought that was a decidedly civilised way of doing things.
Full marks to the Norwegian Government for common-sense on that one.

Hi

Norway is indeed a very beautiful country, but before you decide to celebrate your 50th there I'd advise you to check out the costs of eating / drinking / accomodation - not wishing to put you off but last time I was there, (last year), 0.4 Litre of beer was £12 in the hotel, which was £180 a night, and a meal in a reasonable restaurant was C £50 with a bottle of wine starting at £30.

No wonder their salaries are substantially higher than ours.

Regards Mick

Unfortunately, most tourists find our fine country so expensive, they think it's a joke at the best of times...
We do make up for it though, by beeing generally nice, with a clean and beautiful country to show for it :-D
Here's a couple places which is popular amongst tourists:

My personal favourite, having traveled a lot in Norway is Lofoten (second link above). I'd go as far as claiming it's one of the things everyone should see before they die! Svolvær is a great place to start it all off :)

July or early august is usually the best time to visit considering the weather, but june can also be good. Please let me know if i can be of any assistance.

As for the toll roads, it's sensible, but considering it's a fee of at least 500 pounds just to have a car on the road annually, it does feel a bit like paying thrice but getting only half of one. We have the highest income tax in europe, we have the highest sales tax (which applies to cars as well) we pay for owning the car every year and then we have to pay again to drive on the roads, which is generally in poor condition. Motorists are only outdone by smokers when it comes to taxation in this fine country of ours.
