I stumbled across a documentary about "houses that changed America", and one featured is the house made for the Gamble family of Proctor and Gamble fame. It's 100% Greene and Greene, building, furniture, windows, even the fire tools.

It's quite lovely and I thought it might interest some of you.

I love Greene and Greene details, and the fact that they brought craft and skill to the otherwise bland American home, but the overall effect is over-the-top. There's just too much wood. I think of wooden details as the salt-and-pepper of house building: without it, houses are bland and dull, but you can't have an entire meal consisting only of salt and pepper.

Dr browns house in back to the future. :)

useless fact of the day right there.

now, the house, so much wood to reclaim when america decides it needs another mini mall/ parking lot or something else. can't wait.
