Hows that than Paul

Very nice.

I just tried an apple today - wasn't as successful as that. I used a chuck so was able to get the "top" ok, but the "bottom" or blossom end I've struggled with getting how I wanted. I was using a jam chuck to reverse the piece but didn't find I could get into the centre - any hints? BTW are your finishes all natural colours? There's some really unusual ones in there!

Hi, yes all the colours are natural, I finish them with sanding sealer and then friction polish. Some of the wood used includes, Purple Heart, zebrano, Paduk, yew, laburnum, ebony, oak.

I use a homemade chuck for finishing the bloom end which consists of a 2" round of wood that fits into the chuck jaws with a number 10 wood screw with about 1" of thread protruding through the round of wood. The stalk of the fruit is glued into the hole left by the screw when complete.

Regards

Vic
