I have a cheap Ryobi 10" table saw. Yesterday I was doing a rip cut on some 50mm green oak and after a few minutes the saw just cut out and wouldn't turn back on.

Any ideas what it could be or what I could check?

If it cut out whilst cutting 50mm oak, it may be that the blade is blunt too. That won't help the load on the motor one bit.

It's always worth having a spare, in case, but most TS blades can be resharpened, so it's not a disaster if it does turn out to be blunt. Also check it's clean - that can also increase friction and strain on the motor (= heating it up).

How many teeth on the blade, for rip cuts the fewer the better. I think I use one with 24 teeth which made a big difference compared to the general 48t one I was using before I switched.

Cheers
Andy
