what tpi blades are people here using to cut plywood & mdf in all thicknesses
i have changed the blade that came with my sip 01446 for a freud 24tpi for ripping oak etc but would like your preferences as to what is best for ply & mdf

What seems like a simple question has a number of factors that would determine the answer. I would recomend taking a look at the Swedex WEB site and down loading the full catalogue (half way down the page). The first few pages give a good insight into Saw blades and what is important. I think that it will enable you to make an informed decision.

I tend to use an alternative bevel 300mm blade with circa 90 teeth. I am able to adjust the speed of my Saw to the correct peripheral speed for various blade sizes. A 200 diameter blade with c60 teeth would be a better choice for virtuall all panel sizing. However my Saw run sufficiently slowly to achieve the optimum peripheral cutting speed.

John, I don't think MDF really needs anything too specialised, 24 to 30 odd teeth is fine. Not sure TPI is a term used with TS blades, more just how many pointy bits there are. Using a high tooth count on plywood and veneered/coated sheeting and boards does leave much better finishes on the edge. I use a 90 T and there is very little break out when cross cutting ply for instance.

Your SIP blade, the 24T and say a 80T/90T should cover most situations.
