I've a non running (went up in smoke) Startrite motor and am trying to get the pulley off it.
Removed the long grub screw, removed the locking bar in the slot.
Pulley will now slide up the shaft and at mid way will revolve freely.
Get it to the top of the shaft with about 2mm sticking out and it won't go any further !!? sticks fast.
Presume a nackered shaft top or am I missing something else required to get it off the shaft?

Try running a bit of sandpaper around the end of the shaft to remove any burrs. Sometimes there can be a burr on the grub screw hole which will catch on any burrs on the end of the shaft. It could also be that is the grub screw clamped directly onto the shaft and not the key that it's made an indentation and created a burr on the shaft which makes it a little harder to get off. Try gently tapping with a hammer/mallet to get it off.

AS the motor is scrap I did file the end of the spindle a little (felt like a slight rim there) without much success.
The burr on the grub screw hole may be the culprit though. Not thought of that one, although the wheel will turn freely half way up the shaft.

Pull the pulley off as far as possible and then chop off the motor spindle, hammer the stud out of the pulley.
