At yesterday's car boot sale I spotted a Spinney No. 4 size plane but wasn't tempted to buy it. It's a new name to me. Anybody know anything about it?

Without using google I would say another cheap modern stanly copy.
After the patents ran out loads of cheap nasty versions where on the market.

I'm sure I can remember 'Spinney" as the trademark of a chain-store, like "Winfield" and Woolworth.

Yes - Littlewoods according to a little light Googling. Unlikely to be anything worth getting excited about.
