Hi,

Made this spalted beech box for a friend, its all cut from a left over. I planked it left it to settle then thickness it. I basically made it as big as I could from the planks I had, the bottom is made from piece of Borneo teak that was old panneling. Its finished with Danish oil and wax.

Very nice job Pete. Don't you just love that spalted beech, and to think it wasn't so many years ago that wood like that was binned as scrap by timber merchants etc.

Lovely job.

Cheers

Mike

Some of the spalted beech did escape the timber merchants, into mills which ran hardwood flooring, only for the floorlayer to bin it.I know obeying orders is a poor excuse, but it was the way we were trained.
Incidentally, that is a  beautiful box!
