Hi, has anyone ever made a shotgun case? I've been wanting to make one for years, if anyone has a design or two for me to look at I'd apreciate it.

I guess it's a matter of making two shallow boxes and hinging them together, then fitting foam. I'm stuggling with finger joints and don't have a jig yet so I'm thinking of other ways to do it.

Your thoughts please

Over the years I've seen all sorts of construction from brass bound mitred corners to mitred dovetails.

Some take the gun in all 3 parts separately, some take the gun in two parts (barrel & forend together with stock separate).

Try looking at antique sporting goods dealers websites or visit & browse round good gun dealers.

Mick Shepherd has one or two quite interesting ones at the moment:

Thanks for that Tony, I hadnt thought about Mick as it happens. To be honest I thought he was out of business. As he's only round the corner I might give him a call and see what he will let me have a look at.

Cheers
