Recently got a bandsaw and want to keep shop as tidy as I can so I'll need a vac. I'll use it to stop my lathe. Destroying the place also. I have super limited space and limited funds. What is reccomended that meets my criteria?
Thanks gents.

As big as you can possibly fit in is my recommendation, preferably you'll have somewhere like an attic space or similar you can put it in, instead of actually having it in the workshop itself. Then connect with pipes.

From reading various posts on here, the consensus seems to be that you look out for an old commercial type vac at a boot fair - something like a Henry or similar tub type designed for day long use in hotels etc - or else you wait for Lidl/Aldi to have a wet/dry vac in stock as one of their offers.
I bought a Bosch on offer from Screwfix which is fine but nothing special.

you have the age old problem- dust from the bandsaw and chips/shavings from the lathe (and dust when sanding). The problem then becomes coping with both. There are vacuum type machines that can do so, ideally when combined with a drop box, but that compromises the size and cost. Camvac, Record, Others all do these- usually twin motors are needed.

I have one of the Lidl ones and it has been very useful for handheld power tools and was reasonably cheap. I have a large bandsaw with 4" outlets, so I have never tried hooking it up to that- i think that yours will have a smaller outlet(s), and I am sure it would be fine with that.

i haven't got any loft of roof space to sort the van it will have to go under a bach i have at the back. i think I've found a suitable wet and dry vac that will do. fingers crossed. im kitting out my shed for the winter, also a vac is important to keep stuff clean and stop me breathing in all the dusts.

i though it was had pick what plane to buy at first but machine shopping is way harder..

thanks

Earlier this year I bought a Draper 10923 50litre capacity, 1100w, with 50litre second Air Flow. 355mm diameter x 670mm high.

It is supplied with a .3 micron cartridge filter & some fine filter bags which fit over the cartridge if you need them. It has a 100mm “flexible hose” (not very flexible) :(

I replaced the 100mm hose. Rutlands 5 Meters £25.90 total.

Also purchased a couple of adaptor kits from Amazon for about £4 per kit then adapted an old “Henry” Vacuum hose to fit the 100mm for my mitre saw etc.

The draper works very well on my Bandsaw, Table saw, Planer/Thicknesser etc also v/good for general floor cleaning.

Fitted mine onto a base with castors

Your Bandsaw needs 20 mtr/Sec flow rate & has a 100mm outlet so the Draper is ok

It is not whisper quiet but I am not sure if any of this type of cleaner will win prizes for that :) .

I have been very pleased with its performance.

I have my small RP 250 bandsaw hooked up to a Numatic NV750. It works very well. I use it also on my table saw, sanders etc.

I had a pretty similar issue. I already had a Karcher wet and dry vac (£50) and wanted to use this. I bought a dust mite cyclone and connect that to it and then a hose from that to my bandsaw etc. It all works beautifully. Recently I built a "dust control centre" which is my name for a load of blast gates connected up and a TV energy saving switch. I did a bit of a write up on it. Basically now I open a blast gate labeled Bandsaw and then switch on the tool. The vac automatically starts (due to the TV energy switch) and all my dust is collected. When I am finished I stop the tool and a second or two later the vac stops. I close the blast gate and then I'm done. If I use a different tool I do the same thing but just open a different blast gate.

Do you still have a link to the item on Amazon ? I can't find anything similar.

Thanks.

I got this for £35 and collected, not far from where I live,
Will those adaptors work on this so I can hook it up to band saw ect?

Thanks

Have made an attempt to measure the adaptors #-o . The dimensions below are taken at the extreme ends of each component and although using a vernier it is very difficult to establish exact dimensions as the internal & external surfaces all have different tapers, attempting to list all variables I think will only be confusing.

They all fit together if required

1/ 104 OD X 99 ID OPPOSITE END 100 OD X 95 ID

2/ 96.5 OD X 93 ID OPPOSITE END 68 OD X 63 ID

3/ 61 OD X 58 ID OPPOSITE END 45 OD X 40 ID

4/ 39 OD X 35 ID OPPOSITE END 39 OD X 35 ID

5/ 34.5 OD X 28.5 ID OPPOSITE END 33.50 OD X 28.50 ID

The adaptors can also be found online using 04420

Hope this helps, not sure if it will :)
