Scraper plane?

No, not a scraper, just a cheaply made plane with the usual 45° bedding angle but with a short iron and no proper frog.
I can't recall where but one of the forums had people buying these up to use as scrub planes.

I think Andy's description is a fair one, it is not exactly a piece of precision engineering, but with a bit of work it serves well enough as a scrub plane - in fact I used the one from Steve yesterday to reclaim some meranti from some old window frames, for which it worked well.
