I've just taken delivery of an incra fence with the intention of building it into a table.

Along with the package came an instructional dvd where they used a sanding back of intentionally long end grain cuts on a smallish box.

Could i get away with a decent plane to finish these? and what would everybody recommend?

It seems like overkill to use a 6 inch linisher on a small box.

Hello mate
Not sure about the sanding question, but have just bought a fence from axminster, and am gonna do the same as you (build table). I want to extend the ripping capabilities of my table saw, and intend on using some kitchen worksurface as an extension to the existing table surface.

I would be very grateful for any instruction/ideas you may have on the subject. I suppose you are about to do the same sort of thing as me.

PM me if you like, maybe more 'proper'.

Cheers mate

Neil

What I've read about using kitchen worktops is not very good. Seems they're not very stable.

Lord Nibbo has some good ideas on table design. Might be worth doing a search.
