I used to have something similar, but eventually bought a second hand Leigh dovetail jig, there is no comparison the Leigh jig is adjustable for distance between dovetails and width of joints, if you seriously need a dovetail jig the Leigh is worlds ahead of all the others, plus point the manual is also very instructive, probably the best manual I have ever got with anything.

Max thickness is down to the length of the fingers, both boards do not have to be the same thickness, but it is easier to set up if they are.
I use a couple of Draper expert routers with mine, the base is transparent has three LED lights in it and the Leigh bush fits straight out of the box no need for any adaptor plates.
Forgot to mention, the VRS vacuum attachment and support are almost essential if you are just beginning to use a router, make life a lot easier.

The Leigh you recommend Mike is a snip at 10x the price of the OP's question.
Second hand is definitely the way to go, they don't come up much though, I nearly bought one on this very forum...but they guy upped the price after he realised it was worth more, or something like that.
