well ive ordered my triton router and dakota table etc i looking into dust extractor for it

after the success of selling my first few clocks i setting up to make some more in new year and i am routering the movement insert with a template setup

i concerned about dust extraction as ive heard woods like walnut , wenge , iroko that i have purchased can let of some pretyy nasty dust particles

dust extraction is never really clear on a lot of models i been looking at nilfisk aero attix fein, trend

as far as i can see the trend is only one that offers three stage filters am i worrying too much ? most makes are cartridge and paper bag will this be enough ? anyone with effective dust set up on hardwoods routering i would value youre imput

thanks mark

think im getting the feeling nobody wants to talk to me on here this is the secong thread i put on here thats drawn a blank 109 views and not one owns a router with dust extraction ? maybe not a popular tool or it maybe me whose not popular 8)

Hi Mark

Don't give up!
My way of thinking goes like this, used a extractor with a large air flow to move as much air and dust as possible, as you will never collect it all any way when hand sanding drilling etc. so wair a mask as well.

do you mean connected to the router ? i thought it had to be low volume high pressure for power tools ? as wont be able to fit large diameter hose to router or do you mean a worshop extractor ?

The extraction port on most routers takes the standard size high-pressure, low-volume vacuum cleaner type hose but none I've used are much more than a token effort as bits of wood and dust still go everywhere.

In my router table I have a vac permanently rigged up to the router beneath the table but I also use, above the table, a wide mouth inlet from a high-volume, low-pressure chip collector which I position and clamp according to direction the router is throwing the major output of waste.

If you're worried about dust the best thing is a good face mask system.

yes i am bee=ggining bto see that im hopiung that with doing a clock rebate in middle of wood that is enclosed i might be able to catch some of it i might go down the road of trend air powered helmet and worshop extractor

guess im just concerened with the diff hardwoods normally for scrolling my soft timber i have dust mask and door open workshop when i can

juist concerened of the bad effects of hardwood dust

For the general floaty dust have you thought about a workshop dust filter as well as extraction at source?
