I remember seeing some rollers that you can clamp to a bench etc

anyone use them ?

anyone know where i can order from

can't remember where i saw them..but they looked useful

Steve

why u r on a roll

someone has a roller system for their BS no table fitted
they use for resaw
who ?

Steve

They might be ok for small stuff. I wouldn't fancy using them towards their weight limits. They are also dependant on having something to clamp to nearby, although I guess that you have or you would be asking about freestanding ones.

I did consider making a board that I could clamp down
using some roller bearings..they are cheap as

just couldnt find suitable brackets

i have decided to make a sled sort of thingy

it is for my bs outfeed

going to use roller bearings
angle iron
scafflod poles ...or somethink similar

not sure what the pineapple this will become :D

Steve

The Norm made a roller outfeed table from round PVC downpipe, threaded bar and a tray to mount them in, worked a treat.

the alternative could be to find a scrap roller table, and salvage the rollers. In my experience the local scrap yards only seem to have cars, but others find these little gems.

i have a mad plan in my head
i am sure it wont work..but if u dont try :D

next thing i need is a release catch thingy
i should start a new thread..maybe if i not have luck here

i want my sled thingy to stay put until my timber hits a stop that will then release

i cant draw so here is the idea

12" square platform that stays put until my timber reaches the end of the 12"
it will then hit a catch thingy doobrah and releases the platform

i am gonna have to draw sumthing i guess..unless i can work out a synopsis of what i need

sort of a brake

Yes we want a drawing. You can do a WIP of it if you want.

lol a WiP drawing of a plan of a WiP - I Like it :)

I think I know what you are after Steve, but sounds like all you need is a pressure sensitive release catch - when the wood is just on the sled rollers the friction co-efficient is small so the catch only needs to resist that, once you hit the stop, *bump* and you push the catch past it's grip point and it releases.

Rare earth magnets.

if you made the rollerbench like Norm's, all you'd need to add is some form of guide so it rolled away in line with the saw or whatever else you used it with - simplest I can think of is a straight bar, rod of some sort attached to the saw somehow and the roller sled runs up and down it with wheels either side.

Edit - saw your drawing, scaffold tube would be fine as a guide, but you might want to consider making a floor standing version so it can be used with other machines like norms was. I'll try to find a reference for it.

http://www.woodmagazine.com/app/vot...54.xml&mediaItemID=/sharemy/01022013/72452005 roller outfeed for thicknesser, pretty handy lookin' and I might need one of these all of a sudden! :)

i have been trying to find norms sled

rare earth sounds good ...i could just add them till i get right amount of tension...wrong word
but i know what i mean :D

if you look at my first link, that's the one he built - it has a rise and fall mechanism to match the various heights of his machines, if you have the episode headings it might be something like "workshop helpers" as he also built a rolling rack for prepared wood to move between workstations and a rolling clamp rack.

ok found it, season 18 program #3 - http://www.newwookiee.com/season18.asp

and errm ( how much would you charge for copies of everything? ) sorry but there's no way I can afford the $2000 or whatever it is to buy them all. I've only ever seen maybe the last 4 / 5 seasons and a few of the others that pop up now and again.
