Someone gave me a 4 inch piece of Elm burr and I thought I would have a go at a lidded box which I have a picture of but with an inlay in the lid, things were going fine until I made the morise for the inlay a fraction too large. A lot of head scratching took place as I couldn't make the hole smaller and I couldn't make the inlay larger, or could I????
I cut a strip of Maple veneer, cross grain so it would bend easy, and glued it round the inlay with a rubber band, when dry did a refit and hey presto!!!!! result..
I may use that trick again sometime, the white line just adds that something (I think)
