I'm doing total makeover of my work shop and want to replace my Record Power (Lutz Jumbo) table saw with something smaller and nicer to use. I want to incorporate it into a workstation with a router table built in and a universal fence system of some sort and an outfeed table at the back. When i bought my saw, i had a much bigger area to work in and built tables around it, which i have transferred to my smaller workspace and it just doesn't work any more. I have not got the room to dimension sheets like i used to and they will be made more manageable outside with my tracksaw. Are the table top type saws from the likes of Dewalt, Makita et al worth considering, or would it be best to go for a small cast iron jobby, like the old Kity(don't know what the modern equivalent of that would be).
Anyone got any thoughts or point me to a relevant thread of someone who has done this? I've been scouring the site and Google for a while and as ever, the more you look, the more choice and confusion appears.
Cheers.
