Hi Guys and Gals...

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum but I wanted to share this marvel with my fellow woodies here so if not..I'm sure a mod will move it...to where I'm not sure! 8)

This weekend the workshop managed took me for a walk around our local park...and on his favourite pee tree...we noticed this fungus had grown since the last time we were there:

Now I believe from my research this is Pseudoinonotus dryadeus Oak Polypore or to us commoners!

It's simply amazing....

...or even grotesque as it oozes "honey"....like some alien creature from Star Trek....

Annie thought that it might even be a character from Walt Disney...escaped from the nearby duck pond!

...or maybe a Velociraptor from Jurassic Park....

I have reported it to Natural England as suggested because if it is Oak Polypore then it is a rare and very protected species and they urge you to report sightings of it...although I am sure the park management team would have done this by now.

Weird and beautiful fungus...whatever it is!

Sorry for the poor resolution...iPhone rubbish! Didn't have Nik with me stupidly  .
