I have just had the "super" offer through from Rutlands- 2kgs of cotton finishing rags, down from £33 to £20, plus shipping.

This made me wonder how good a deal it actually was, and whether the £20 was actually good value- I am running out of old tee shirts and question how good they actually were for applying finish, particularly if they have had fabric softener used when washed.

I looked on Smith and Rodger http://www.frenchpolishes.com/acatalog/Cloths.html (my favourite for finishing supplies due to excellent service, keen prices and prompt responses to technical questions) and they are offering staining rags at just under £5 a kilo, cleaning rags at less than that and free shipping over £40. They dont come with a dispensor box, but looking at the WIP's from Devonwoody, I am sure that his design could be adamted to suit! Half the price of the so called special offer!

I normally wait if i can until i need a few bits and then go for the free shipping option. I cant always do so, but they get the majority of my business for finishes.

Caveat emptor on these special offers from Rutlands!

My grand children kindly provide me with a never ending supply of rags \:D/ and as i'am almost certain (swimbo will deny this)
i paid for the clothes that almost overnight turn into rags  its nice to see a little return on my investments
