Just about to run some conduit in an 18 inch deep trench.


Firstly, will the sparky want to see the dept of the trench/conduit? (running 40mm solvent waste) and secondly if I can just bury it without him seeing do I need some of that electric hazard tape ran over the top of the pipe.

I'll be using 6mm SWA

SWA doesnt need to be in a conduit, it can be buried direct and a warning tape is a nice idea but not essential. Although if you ever want to replace the 6mm with something bigger putting it in a duct is handy. So why not just put in say 10mm directly now. As for the depth and him wanting to see it, does he trust you and you him.

If you read some of the DIY forums you will find that some sparks say they would sign it off and others say no. Best ask I suggest.

Well. I couldn't get hold of him this afternoon so I've put a few extra draw strings in and I've filled the hole.

Fingers crossed he'll be happy, if not its a lot of digging.
