Hi all,

Apologies for being absent so long........does anyone have any details of what the D! / D2 /D3 / D4 mean in relation to the ....' new generation ' pva adhesives.

I, at the moment am quite a fan of 'Pink Stuff D4 PVA' - cheap and reliable....but what is the D thingy ?

Regards,

Chris.

Believe it is relation to their suitability for outside use - D4 has the best waterproof properties for outdoor woodwork.

Most D4s are polyurethane, the Pinkgrip D4 is a new product and seems to be a hybrid cross-linked PVA/PU from what the manufacturer says. If it's as goood as the Pink Grip building adhesive it will be very good indeed.

All the PVAs I've seen to date are D2 or D3, D2 is interior use whilst cross-linked (or exterior) PVAs are rated D3.

Looks like something worth trying, thanks for the heads-up

Have used a D4 by Wudcare, which is allegedly seawater proof and will stick wet wood and concrete and steel and pretty much anything to anything, very quick drying and definitely works on dry wood also quite economical to use
