Planer blade setting query

Just had my blades sharpened, and was wondering on the best way to set them parallel to the block.

I can just remember that someone posted on here some wood with rare earth magnets attached to hold the knives, but cant remember when.

Help greatly appreciated!

A great idea - that is until you remember that your tables are aluminium !!

The biggest problem with that method is ensuring that your head is set at TCD. It only has to be a micro-tad out to make a noticeable difference.

But if you do use this method with Ali tables, you can simply hold the board down with a brick!

tdc is clearly marked on the block & on the edge of the oak beam line the two up with each other every time no problems , simples . hc
