Pen Mandrel

Hi all, is it ok to use the revolving centre that comes with the Jet 1220 lathe on a pen mandrel?

Hi Thomas,

I would say yes - I use a revolving centre in my tail stock (not jet) and it must help stop ware on the mandrel, I still put a drop of oil on it now and then.

Make sure you don't over tighten it either - too much pressure on the mandrel will make it ware quicker and you get a slight bow on the mandrel.

dave is right you can. But its better if its a 60 degree live center. As thats whats at the end of the mandrel
