hi all i was given this piece of wood not sure what is i think it might be fruit wood it had bark on it which was very large grain and black in colour
any comments welcome

many thanks to all who replied ,you may be right about apple it is the first lump of tree i have turned i have been using blanks, it turned out very nice.

your Right on The choice of timber Kim As I got it Here a very nice bowl wonderful bit of turning superb finish and a real pleasing grain pattern it rings my bell
