I thought I would show you another house number I have just finished using brass plate again. I managed to cut the numbers using just one blade this time. The finish on the wood is spray on clear lacquer and the brass is untouched, as one member commented last time, I will leave it to the customer to polish it from time to time. The wood is Beech.

Hi Brian. When I speak to my wood supplier when I need to order some more he goes through what he has got and very often he comes up with something quite exotic and then tries to explain it over the phone, which is not always easy. Speaking to him some months back he said he had some Acasia wood and when he described it I knew I had to have it. I think he sent about 8 planks with the rest of the wood I ordered. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I polished a bit and then polished it some more and was amazed. To cut a long story short I decided not to use it for scroll saw purposes and over the Christmas period made 2 small occasional tables, one fits underneath the other. Both were sprayed with sanding sealer and then many very thin coats of spray on lacquer. I can still taste it now.

Thanks Guys for all the comments. Martin. I forgot to slow th saw down on this one. I had made a mental note to do so to see how the brass cut at a slower speed. I will do this next time.
Mseries. It is difficult taking a photograph of something that is highly polished, but yes, the black square as you describe it is in fact mirror finished brass plate.
