Hi everyone and happy new year to you all. I would like to make my own Danish oil but cannot find a supplier of non urethane solid varnish. Does anyone know where I can get it please? Preferably an online supplier as I live in France but if I have to get it from a UK supplier I could possibly do it on one of my trip over. Thanks, Froggy.

Is this just because you want to experiment?
Danish oil is, after all, danish oil. I can even buy the Liberon tin of it here in Cyprus, Surely you can buy it in France?

yes, but my question still stands... WHY does he want to make his own?
If its unobtainable in his area, yes.
if he wants to experiment with other ingredients to make some thing different, again yes.
But if he just wants to make exactly the same product as is available, i'm curious as to why.

Hi Guys,

I can get Danish. I want to make my own for two main reasons and a minor third. The first reason, it's significantly cheaper to make your own (apparently), and second I can make it to the quality/consistency that I want/require for a specific job. The other minor reason is that during the mixing process you can add a dye to colour the oil if required and I'm not sure you can just add the dye to Danish oil. Hope this clarifies things a little.

There ya go, question answered. Just sorry I cant help with a supplier.
I've tried danish, finishing, and even baby oil, but they just dont shine enough for me so I'm sticking to wipe on poly.
