went to the local boot fair and got this little looker as well as a few bits and bobs. i havent seen one like this before, i has a lovely cupids bow on the iron cap and the letter 'W' cast on the top, whats the W mean ive searched high and low but can seem to see a similar block, there is the number 102 on the underside of the lever cap but ive googled it and it just comes up with stanley models, there is no mark on iron, just wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about it ect. the sole is 3 1/2' by 1 5/8 ish at widest point.
any help would be great.

According to Patrick Leach the Stanley design ran from 1877 to 1962 and was a very cheap basic design so I'd be amazed if there weren't lots of copies by other makers, starting from quite a long time ago. I think I've seen line drawings of something much the same in old woodwork books as a generic example of a cheap metal plane.

basically its a cheap knock off, any ideas of what the W means? i like the design tho, ill keep hold of this one the iron sits at 45 degrees so ill but a 15 degree back bevel on it and have a go and see how it works on small tear out spots.
one day ill come across a super rare plane :)
