Tooty Fruities are another on with carnuba wax on the shell to give them a polish. Its quite common in the world of sweeties to make them shiny and it also helps them not to stick to each other.

any hard coated sweet (jelly beans, skittles, liqourice torpedos etc.) will be made with carnuba or beeswax as a coating, as said, it is what makes it shiny, it also taste rather nice when it doesn't have a solvent in it. oh and all those shiny pills your doctor prescribes too (almost an identical process).

have a look for wood fibres, they are in a large amount of food.
