Hi chaps

I've trawled through all the reviews I could possibly find and opinion seems to differ considerably. I don't know if I'm asking too much for me 300 knicker but I'd like a saw with a large cutting capacity and spot on accuracy.

I'm currently making a seating area for a friends pub. I'm using varying sizes of timber, up to 8"x4" green oak sleepers hence the need for the large cutting capacity. Due to the design of it there are a daft amount of mitres in it as well as a quite a bit of trenching.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jamie

You haven't defined large cutting capacity, but I got a 10" SIP from ebay recently and after spending a couple of hours fine tuning (and cussing) I now get prefect cuts to 300mm width and 90mm depth

Cost £43 !!!

Whatever saw you get is going to need adjusting and you must be sure any square you use is accurate (I have a Trend digital that I now trust)

Hi

I've got a few Moore and wright squares that I use and theyre spot on. Off topic, are those digital squares really that good? Me uncle swear by his but I find them a bit too flimsy.

Btw I did put I'd be cutting 10 x 2 in the post.

Thanks for quick response.

Jamie

The one I have is spot on - tested by drawing a 90 line from a straight edge, flipping over (left to right) and drawing again

Its actually a lockable angle finder and is truer than my other squares, and I'll admit these aren't the best quality available but will be 'within tolerances'

For your £300, there's quite a selection out there that will cut 10 x 2 - check out the METABO KGS216M on the D&M website for instance - well under your budget so you can get a decent blade as well, but as above, spend an hour checking the setup before you find out you're cutting at 89.5 degrees :)
