To day they have loaded up a program named Speed Analyasis.

So they are no better than Facebook for messing around with my computer. I think they got it in by putting up an upgrade offer.

Anyway it is proving difficult to uninstall. There is an uninstall button on its web page, but I dont like to use their system because you never know what they have left behind. There is a Skype 4th june 2013 entry at programs install/uninstall , could it be that to use?

They are disabled but they still come in. Need an expert again to stop it somehow.

Go to control panel, Programs and features. There you will see everything that is installed on your computer. Select what you want to uninstall and click "uninstall" and its gone. This is Windows 7, but much same for older versions too.

Dangermouse and dm65.

I have been to control panel>programs W7 and the only entry dated 5th June 2013 is a new Skype entry making two in all.

So speed analaysis must be that new Skype entry because nothing else in programs dated recently.

I have set my computer to not load any windows updates but they still somehow get past the filter, I prefer not to install these updates automatically because sometimes I read on the forums they cause a conflict.
If my PC is running OK why should I update, its only for some elses benefit

I'm pretty sure you should only have one entry for Skype, especially if you've only installed it once!

If you have a second, there's a chance it's just a malicious program unrelated to Skype that's just disguising itself as something you recognise so you're less likely to get rid of it.

Because updates are often for security purposes - they've found some problem with the software you have installed which could allow others to infect your computer with viruses or other malware, they've fixed it, but they need you to install the update to fix the problem your computer.

The best way to keep your computer secure from malware is to physically separate it from external networks and never put any discs or USB devices in it... but failing that - assuming that you actually want Internet access - it's a good idea to keep up to date with security updates at the very least.

(If nothing else, whenever a security update goes out, hackers around the world will likely be trying to work out what vulnerability was just patched, specifically so they can try and exploit that vulnerability on computers which haven't been updated yet!)

Jake I did a system restore this morning (took ages 20 minutes plus), I went back three days prior to the second new Skype entry and that has now disappeared from the programs list. However speed analysis is still on my monitor as a short cut. Cannot find the program anywhere else, I think it calls itself PCperformance in the blurb when I partially open it at the monitor, but do not proceed to the download stage.
