Advice please i have mentioned my neighbour making wooden reindeer's from logs on here before but now he as asked me how he should store the logs for x mas to make more reindeer's . He as no room in the shed so he was thinking of putting them in something like this out side PHOTO ATTACHED what do you think will they crack and split or ??thank's in anticipation Alan

There will always be some cracks and splits but given the use his logs will be put to , i see no reason why he should not store his logs like that , i store logs for the wood burners in something similar (not quite as posh ) .One addition i would add is a cover over the front to help keep the worst of the heavy rain out , stud fasteners and a cheap tarpaulin will do the job nicely or you could fashion something from wood.
 
My daughter has a log store similar but only for their wood stove
For some reason this year they keep finding hibernating queen wasps in them and have to store them elsewhere for a time before bringing them in.

Looks ideal but I would have it facing north as nothing splits logs like direct sunlight. I wouldn't cover the front as a bit of rain getting in from time to time will have little effect on the drying but a cover will stop air circulating possibly resulting in mouldy logs.
