As part of my workshop build I thought I’d made like easy for myself and use a solid core door so I could trim it to any size.

Of course I now realise I need to lip the thing as well.

Two questions - should I attach the lipping (just going to get some oak lipping from B&Q as that’s what’s available locally) with just glue or does it need brads as well? - obviously not on the side I will potentially trim!

What gap should I aim for between frame and door as an initial fit, 2mm all round?

I'd advise pins to hold the trim tight in place whilst the glue sets.
If you door case is true, that is sides are parallel and top at a true 90 degrees, then 2mm all round is fine. It would then allow you to take an odd mm in high spots.

Thanks for the tips.

Yes I think I’ll do a 20mm lipping. Door casing / frame is from Wickes and a standard size / preassemble so should be OK
