I would have thought for £20 worth having a go and if they are rubbish take them back. Paul Sellers thinks Aldi chisels are worth having.

I bought these last time around. They are actually pretty good for the money, although I had to regrind all of them to suit the angle I wanted. The cutting angle on these is about 60 degrees. (I kid you not). I prefer more like 20 on my carving chisels. I'm not purist about it - anything close is ok, but these just don't cut as is. Worth a pop though.
 
Some guy from sweden reviewed them and thought they where horrible, factory edges where unusable, he returned them. You could try and sharpen them yourself of course, question is if they hold an edge.
