This maybe the same as tony_j's thread on dead lathe? Had a quick turn on my AWBL1200 this morning, it worked for a few minutes then stopped! There is still power getting through and the spindle turns freely, it doesn't seem to have the large draw of power when first switched on? Not sure what I need to check our who to take it to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks Bob,
That will be my first call tomorrow, the lathe is defo out of any warranty but have experienced their helpfulness first hand before, just wanted to see if there was something I could check on before tomorrow?
Regards,
Chris.

Not sure if its the capacitor? Or where it is and how to check it, if anyone can help please :)
Chris.

Does the lathe run if you give the spindle a quick turn by hand? The capacitor will look like a small tin can and will be attached/near the motor

Thanks Taz,
Tried that and now it won't run up at all! Hope it's fixable?
Chris.
