I have a large Bamboo grove and need advice on laminating it into a trout landing net, anyone have experience of this.
I am going to need a former to laminate around and possibly a steam making appliance, I assume that epoxy is going to be the best glue and something like Oak for the handle. I have lots of Oak as well, so would like to stay with it, perhaps even laminate alternate layers of Oak and Bamboo? Oh yes I have some Mahogany as well, that could be an interesting contrast for the wedge at the neck of the net.
I have quite a bit of experience with epoxies, including West systems, Devcon and most Alphatic resins, because of the long dence fibres in the Bamboo I am assuming a thinning agent may have to be applied to enable the resin to penetrate or perhaps heat, by gun or even microwave oven.
Any advice/observations welcome.
Mike
