Hi

Does anyone know of stockists of laminated pine board and how much I would expect to pay for a 8ft x 2ft sheet?

B&Q and Wickes charge over £40 and a local builders merchant wants £36, which I thought was a little steep.

Also, out of seven builders/timber merchants only one had even heard of it, so what is it commonly known as?

Cheers,
Mark

Assuming you mean the sort of pine board made up of narrowish solid strips glued edge to edge, I had a quick look at Robbins in Bristol (who are good but not cheap) and their list includes:

High Quality Solid Boards manufactured using strips of timber glued together making them ideal for furniture and projects requiring wide panels! Our standard range is below, and we are also able to manufacture in any other specie or size to order – please ask our sales office for a no obligation quote!
Softwood
Ideal for a wide range of applications from furniture to cabinet work
Length 3000mm Width 600mm Thickness 18mm Price £35.80

so even after adding 20% VAT, that would be better value, assuming a 3m length suits your requirements.

Hi Mark,

Edge Glued Pine Panels - Laminated Pine Panels

I buy mine from Timbersource http://www.timbersource.co.uk/ . They carry 12mm - 18mm - 25mm - 32mm

A wider range can be found here http://www.gaimports.co.uk/

If you are just after 18mm in 2.400 x 600 size a lot of hardwood or sheet merchants keep them in stock.

FWIW we find them to be very very useful for a wide range of applications.
