The green and wetter end of the M4.
Apologies all round, busy busy and dodgy internet.

Hi Nev

Apologies for the delay with the results, managed to get away for a few days so not been online.

Disappointing number of entries but by no means disappointing in the quality of the entries!! Even with only 3 entries I had to look at this several times!! Well done!

1st- SheptonPhil. I always start by just looking at the pictures, no words and my first thought was Wallace and Gromit, so imagine my thought when I read the text! Well executed and thought out job. Well done!

2nd - Dennisk. I love the originality of this project and, as always, executed really well. Good work!

3rd - HeatherW. A classic turned mouse. Really well made and finished. Great work.

Lets hope for a few more next month!

Cheers

Richard

Thanks to all that took part. lets hope that we get a few more entrants next month

Haha, are you trying to say something with that avatar, Nev? Thanks for doing the organising anyway, it's much appreciated.

I was almost certain that the results would go that way, congratulations Sheptonphil and Dennisk, I loved both of those creations.

Lets hope that loads of people want to make finial boxes, I suppose July is a bit of a holiday month so some people may not have time. I've never made a finial in my life and may not have time to discover how to, this is our busy time of year. But I will try, and those who have buried lathes should start unearthing them sharpish!

Oh, and Nev, if you could get the July rules up before the weekend that would be wonderful.....

Heather, avatar = Just my state of mind at the moment :)

It was a disappointing turnout but I can't complain as I was no show too, that life thing getting in the way of turning again.
I must say I loved all three entries and will be plagiarising in the future (I have been told I will be making a feathers mcgraw in the near future apparently)

I too was a little disappointed that there were only three entries, but I take these as personal challenges as well.

Super entries from Heather and Dennisk, didn't even consider a tortoise, really novel.

Still going to gloat with my win though as I have only had a lathe for six months and I found even the concept of an animal difficult. I took Mr McGraw into work yesterday, and the first person to hold him wanted to buy him. He's not for sale, but I have been commissioned to make another two, so you are not alone Nev.

Thats the main reason behind the challenges, to get the grey matter going and try something you wouldn't normally do (or even think of doing).
Nothing more frustrating than having some free time, sneaking out to the shed, standing in front of the lathe and not being able to think of anything to turn.

Thanks to Nev and Richard, and I want to say the challenge is just that , to get out and turn something you might not ever have tried and to enjoy the challenge of that. Then present it to the group and have some fun with all the ideas that come up. I would never have tried a turtle if it had not been part of this friendly comp. Thanks again.
