Jet Black bird / insect / bat. Very strange

I was out cycling on Sunday, it was cold and about 5C temp, when I spotted a small flying creature flying along the hedge next to me. At the time I thought "too cold for a moth or butterfly", but now when I think back I am completely bemused. It was totally jet black in colour, it's wings were very rounded at the tips.

I am starting to freak out now, and am thinking "was I hallucinating, was it some alien creature"

Have trawled google for pictures, but cannot find anything that matches

I reckon it was about 2" across when flying

How would they get the projector there in broad daylight?
