I just saw the strangest thing, an hand plane that had what looked to be a extra plate on top of the lever cap? It had 2 screw/bols either holding it in place. Has any one ever seen that before. Its a small plane. No2 not sure if it Stanley but I recon so. I've looks every where on the net for an answer can find a thing. So I turn to the pros (you guys) ,
the plane looks nice. A bit rusty but complete. I know that no2 are worth a but, not as much as an no1 (durrr)
I know collectors are picky with con, I'll put a pic up in the morning some time have a look and tell me what you think!
Cheers.
(I know, i know i can't help my self)

no2 (size) 190mm x 48mm approx

It's hard to tell from that photo, but if I had to put money on it, I'd say someone's attempted to repair a broken lever-cap.

At least one of the now defunct American plane makers had a self-setting (or something) lever-cap, which I'm not familiar with, but I don't think it looked like that.

Cheers, Vann.

Thanks Vann, a repair? Hmm. Didn't think it was original. Might not take the gamble and get it then. I'll try and get a better pic up ok. Was in a rust for work
