This may be well known, but can't say I've seen it in print...Rapeseed oil, available in most supermarkets for about a quid a litre, makes a good substitute for camelia oil. It has a good industrial lubricating pedigree and is pleasant to handle. It doesn't seem to transfer to the wood in serious amounts from hand tools or bandsaw blades.
Not all rape oil is explicitly labelled ( I believe Americans have invented a new name for it) Last time I looked, Tesco were less coy and had plainly labeled product.
