Hi all

Well as you all know , I am new at this , and have only turned 1 bowl and 1 pen holder , but would you believe it , someone at the boat club wants me to make him 3 tiller ends for his narrow boat

Made the first one tonight and am well pleased with the finished item , its still in the lathe at the moment so will post a photo tomorrow

Its turned , sanded and sanding sealer has been done , 2 coats , so just some wax to finish now :p :p

Congratulations =D> - will look forward to the photos.

Is wax the best finish for something in an aquatic environment ? (Do you need something more water-resistant ?)

Andrew

Hi

Wax should be OK as these tiller ends are removable , they fit inside a steel tube and are held in position with a pin , when not in use they are removed and stored inside the boat

reason he wants is , 1 standard long , 1 posh long " they then decorate with ropework etc " , 1 short for when 2 people are on the helm position , and you dont have so much room to swing the long tiller across

Thanks :p :p
