How to safely?

Hi folks,

I am away to cut something similar to this on my table saw for a door threshold. However, i am struggling to find a safe way to do this - supporting the timber, making an accurate cut, leaving a thin slice.

Any advice? Jigs required etc?

Maybe attach it to a scrap peice using double sided tape so you have something to safely hold, or make a sled to attach it to and run it through the TS on that

You could always cut a wide thin piece and glue a square batten on one side of it
Too fiddly as a production technique but safe and easy for a one off special.

This is a relatively easy and safe job for a router, either handheld with a straightedge, or in a table. You do need to support one side while you cut the other, but apart from that it should be fine.

use wider stock
cut dadoes to finished size
flip and cut to width
cut one dado extra wide and you will get both pieces from the final cut

I have to make something similar at the threshold of my lounge door.
I am thinking of fabricating it, rather than moulding it in one.
Just for a one off, I could also work that rebate with a rebate plane and bench rebate plane, in two steps.
Either way it's easier and safer than the table saw.
