My brother is out there just north of Sidney but I think that is a fair way from Alice.

There is (or at least was) a demonstration of this at the Magna science centre in Sheffield (http://www.visitmagna.co.uk/). The demo is 3 or 4 meters tall and seriously impressive, you'd certainly not want to come into contact with it. 'Twas in really impressive building as well, an old steel works. Would have been an amazing day out but a lack of maintenance meant quite a few of the exhibits weren't working which took the shine of it a bit.
