Very handy just the job for marking out for door latches ,it always takes me three or four goes at adjusting the marking gauge to get it bang on. Thanks for sharing No Skills i think i will knock one off these up before i get stuck back into work , the phone has started ringing already so not much play time left

Cheers Bern.

You can get a router jig that does a similar thing by putting the router bit in the center of the wood. Clever stuff!

Knocked one of these gadgets out this afternoon out of some reclaimed hardwood block flooring that one of my clients gave me. The client told me that the timber was greenhart but i dont think it is ,anyone have any ideas on what it is ?

Cannot remember what it is - but will look it up - I'm sure I found it in my Wood book?

You might have inadvertantly answered a riddle for me; can greenheart (wood species I've never heard of before) be olive green? I have some wood that I got as part of a salvaged old wood filing cabinet and when I cut into it it was olive coloured right through, never seen anything like it, but on the outside it's dark like walnut, oxidised maybe? Cuts really smoothly (or that could just be a feature of hardwoods that I'm not used to yet).

Whatever happened to Afzelia, there used to be loads of it around but I haven't seen any for ages, like Macrocarpa it seems to have disappeared from timber yards.
