Hello all,

I am renovating a plane of mine, and have striiped the chipped varnish off, sanded and now need to re-seal/coat. I have a fondness for Sikkens Cetol when taking on general jobs but I remember someone in here doing something the same and recommending an alternative?
Can any one suggest a finsh/varnish to use please that will do the old girl justice.

Havn't been on here for some time, but its nice to be back in the saddle

Thanks

Pete
PS is it any easier to post pics now? ooops I have just noticed that is is. Ignore me

Hi Pete,

There has been a lot of plane fiddling going on around here of late and some discussion as to oil finish versus varnish on handles.
I'm in the process of making my first handles for an infill and I'd even been looking into your actual French polishing. But I think that when it comes to a tool that gets handled a lot I would still probably prefer an oil finish. Just my preference.
