I was about three weeks work including making the frame.
The biggest pain in the backside was a 40mm discrepancy in the height of the brickwork from one side to the other. I ended up having to cut the posts individually on site to suit. The other issue was this!

The thatch roof was carried by a local thatcher, but I did give it a go.

Was the bricky using the builder's square his dad nicked off his grandad? Looks a bit like my neighbours new porch.
Did you board in and paint the changing rooms too?
I've been meaning to pm you about a bike, but you aint got no pm wotsit. If you're interested in a 20-30 yr old Dawes Shadow I've got one in the outhouse gathering dust/rust, willing to swap it for a day out watching you work.

Hi Ross,
I have just started to read your timber frame/logstore project, and with your sense of humour, having you along for a day would be my pleasure.
I've carried out the odd job at both Ansty, Bolney and Liphook, so next time that I'm out your way, I'll let you know.
I've now sorted the PM issue, and will have to amble off to research the Dawes, and thank you for the kind offer. I'm currently really kicking myself as there was an FH Grubb on Ebay last week and I stupidly hesitated on it and have been kicking my self ever since. I just have a hankering to restore and ride an old steel framed race bike. My modern ally framed bike just isn't the same.

I'm not sure if it's a racer or a tourer with drop bars, plus the bits n bobs seem a bit cheap, nor can I see a Reynolds sticker on it, but I used to ride it round Sheffield and it seemed okay for that (and I'm a fat idle git). Easy to ride and not too tiring. I think it's more a general consumer bike than a specialist racer.
It would be nice to meet up.
