As I mentioned I decided to keep the Elu 98. No variable speed but a solid router. And I now have very fine control over height setting with the springs removed.
(I did look at the Freud - good height control for a router table. But I have heard mixed reports too.)
I ordered a T5 to replace my hand held router. It was that or the Atlas Copco - but I like the service trend operate and all the extras available without adding clumsy extra bases and such like.
Will let you know how I get on with it.
