I've decided I want to buy my first Band saw for light hobby use, space is at a premium so will be wanting a compact machine.
I don't suppose I will be cutting large timbers on it, as most of the little bits and pieces I do are toys, models and small craft type objects.
However I might have a go at a bit of box making in the future.
At the moment I am considering these 2:

http://www.recordpower.co.uk/product/st ... 2ZIA2dOXIU

The Metabo has a 900 watt motor over the 1hp Record, cutting depth is similar.
The Record has a 5 year warranty and the Metabo has 2 or 3 years warranty I think?

Could anyone offer any advice on which one might be better than the other or are the both similar?
Or is there an alternative from another manufacturer that might also be worth considering?

Hi

Record Power without a doubt - the 5 year guarantee is reassuring but I've never had to resort to it on any of the seven RP machines I own.

Another vote for REecord. Their service record is very good and should you need it, you have 5 years back-up. Not a bad depth of cut either with almost 7".

Well done there. Good choice and you wont be dissapointed. Just tune it up the wat Steve Maskery shows in his video's and have fun.
