Finished today

Just finished this project in Padstow. 3 wardrobes, a built in shelving unit and 2 bookcases. All made from oak painted in Farrow and Ball.

lovely work but why on earth would you paint oak? I had a customer who wanted a painted oak cabinet once, I just don't understand it? if they want them painted why not just have them in MDF instead. :roll:

Very nice. Re. the painted oak - the client gets what the client wants, right?? Maybe they felt that the smooth finish on painted MDF is too 'manufactured' for them, maybe they wanted to see the grain of the wood coming through the paint? Or maybe they just wanted painted oak - not everyone loves bare wood...

I think I might have tried to steer them away from side-mounted ball-race drawer runners to under-mount soft closers, but if drawer height was the important factor then there's not much option.

p.s. - pro tip; when you're taking panoramas, try and swing from your hips (oo-er!) as you pan - makes for a smoother shot. Pete

Very nice, I'm curious as to the use of oak, I do painted stuff in Ash if the customer wants a grain effect, shows through much better with a stronger crown pattern.

I also use ash for painted with grain showing. No problems with tannin staining or the checking that can be a problem with oak.

Nothing wrong with using oak of course, you may have had plenty in stock.

Job in Padstow, what lovely place to work. I hope you put plenty on the job to cover parking and lunchtime pasties!
